Overview

Afton Robotics LLC was a small engineering and robotics development company founded by William Afton in 1985. Its stated mission was "finding new, innovative ways to bring our animatronic performers to life".

The company is best known for its partnering with Fazbear Entertainment in 1986 for the cancelled Circus Baby's Pizza World project, an animatronic pizzeria featuring the Circus Baby character. The location was reportedly fully prepared to open, with plans continuing smoothly right up until the day of its launch, when the project had to be cancelled due to dangerous gas leaks. This event was reportedly followed by a relatively significant amount of underground construction, the purpose of which is not publicly known.

The company continued working with Fazbear Entertainment thereafter, developing animatronic technology for Freddy Fazbear's Pizza up until its closing in 1993. They were involved particularly in the production of the pizzeria's Funtime Foxy and Balloon Boy characters.

Many of these projects were funded by businessman and investor Harold Kauffman, who officially took over the company after William Afton's disappearance in 1995. After his own passing in 2004, the company officially ceased operation. It has since been found that there existed many internal projects which never saw the light of day. Of the few internal documents which have not been lost to time, most have been officially confiscated, though several were leaked by an anonymous source in 2018. As such, little is publicly known regarding the majority of the company's activity.

Major Workplace Accident

In September of 2004, there was reportedly a catastrophic workplace accident which involved the death of 4 people (listed below) as well as 7 injuries, and a significant destruction of company property.

With the death of the owner and CEO Harold Kauffman, and with the enormous loss of life and property, the company was not able to continue operating.
